The Introduction to Strength Training class is required by all members 14-17yrs of age. This class focuses on overall fitness, lifting form and technique, along with weight room safety. Our desire is for you to learn how to train correctly, set and obtain realistic goals, and most importantly achieve the previous safely and effectively. Training should always be done for the right reasons. For the youth especially it is important to develop and fine tune basic motor skills, increase muscular strength, improve overall physical fitness, establish appropriate body composition, and for some enhance sports performance all while reducing risk of injury. The first thought should not be trying to "bulk up" by lifting the heaviest weights possible, it should be to learn the how-to and become proficient in the application of proper strength training. This class serves to equip the youth with the know-how that will enable them to build and execute the appropriate training routine and modify them as their mind, body and abilities permit.
